HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!! HALF-TIME!!!

Elder Beal,
This week you will celebrate your half way point. I am so very proud of you! What is the tradition? Burn a shirt, cut a tie? I hear in some missions the Elders burn a skirt at the 18 month marking they are no longer sisters. Silly boys! Please give a hug and kiss to beautiful Orfelina and her good-looking sweetheart too. Are you still hanging out with Luis? I hope he is well.
You know I haven't sent you anything for almost a year because of the expensive tariff, but there must be a way to avoid that. What if it was smaller or sent directly to you or is it better to send to the mission home? I don't want to get you in trouble, but I do want to send something. Are letters okay?
Dad and I saw a movie called Sully this week. It is based on a true story of a pilot who had to land his plane with 155 passengers in it on the Hudson River in New York in Jan of 2009.  Anyway in the film he says "I've flown thousands of people in countless planes landing them safely in destinations all over the world for over 40 years, but in the end I will be judged on 208 seconds." When I heard that, I was so grateful for the atonement and plan of salvation.   I am so glad we are not judged on our scariest 208 seconds.
Every single passenger survived because of his brilliant skills and the quick first respond teams on scene. Each of us can survive the turmoil of mortality because of the brilliant plan our Father in Heaven created for us.
I am looking forward to General Conference this week and can't wait to hear which talk was your favorite. I love you with all my heart!
Love,
Mom

Dear Momma
I hope that you had a wonderful week, I had a pretty good one, we went to León for a Zone Conference, President Pack taught us how to better use the Book of Mormon when answering questions of the soul, so this week we have been making questions and answering them. As members and missionaries, we receive these questions of the soul every day from our friends and family and it is our job to help them answer the questions that I have. As we start to teach using the Book of Mormon our friends and family will start to notice the truth of its teachings. We need to be studying, pondering and praying so that we can be ready to be an instrument in the Lord's hands. I love being here in Gijon. From what I've been seeing up here in the north is that everyone is struggling but for some reason the lord is really blessing us. Which is fine, I just want everyone to be doing as good or better then we are. Maybe we just need to sacrifice a little bit more and than the lord will bless us because of our faith. I hope that y'all are doing good and that the ward is too. Send them some besos and un abrazo. I love y'all. Moroni

Sweethearts

Elder Beal,
Oh how we loved the video of these sweet lovebirds!  They are so darling and fun!  I would love to wrap my arms around them in a warm embrace and tell them that I love them. Thrilling news that she got baptized on Friday.  I would love to hear more of their story.  Was he already a member?  Was he able to baptize her?  Are they newlyweds?  His gentle chuckle and great big belly laugh are medicinal to me.  They make me so happy!  I need to laugh like that more often, what an upbeat man.

My birthday was amazing!  Everybody at work brought in goodies and gifts.  They were all so thoughtful.  Plus, I am now the proud owner of the buzzard.  This buzzard lands on your desk when you turn 40 at work, and stays there until the next person turns 40!  Thankfully, someone turns 40 in January and he will fly to their spot.

After work, I was really just stressing about learning the new interface for my online classes and was trying to bust out a few assignments before we went to grab a bite to eat and watch a movie I wanted to see.  Dad says it is time to go, and so I run out the door with them and I am rubbing my eyes as we get close to the restaurant and don't even notice he missed the turn to Miguels and brought me to Harnish Wayside park, where a surprise party was waiting for me!  So wonderful to be surrounded by so much love!

This weekend, I enjoyed Time Out For Women in Sacramento.  The girls were supposed to go with me but the couldn't get off work and Nauvoo was bumped up to Varsity, so Jodi and I went on our own and had a great time!.  I love TOFW. I could have stayed an extra day for sure.  Malachi had his first soccer game yesterday and Nauvoo went to Homecoming with some friends.  Sariah and Jordan Fagan are trying to get an apartment together in Provo and one just became available mid-October.  They are excited of the prospect of being roommates and both are considering missions again.

Spiritual Thought- President Kimball said the most important word in the dictionary could be remember.  Each week we remember during the Sacrament.  I dug a little deeper and learned that remember is a verb, which is an action word.  In English, that usually references a mental recollection.  However in Hebrew it denotes a physical action. Therefore phrases like 'remember the Sabbath Day' , Remember the Lord your God', or 'remember to keep the commandments' all involve action and not just a mere thought. The word remember is found 240 times in the Book of Mormon and 15 times in Helaman chapter 5 when Helaman the younger blesses and counsels his sons Lehi and Nephi prior to their missionary work. How do you say remember in Spanish and does it have the same or different meaning there?

Pictures are in  separate email. I tried to send a video for you, but it always says it is too large ;( I am going to get some help from the young kids in this family with this tech stuff!

I love you,
Mom

Hey mom
I have been doing pretty good this week, I had some friends come to church. A member asked his girlfriend to get married at the end of church which was crazy. We had the baptism of Orfelina on Friday and she asked me If I would confirm her on Sunday which was a sweet experience. Her testimony is so strong and from the heart. I'm glad to be able to help her on this path to eternal life. God really prepared her and she was ready in 20 days which is really fast. Enrique really showed her the example. She was ready just by coming to church. The members really show people love and that is one of the attributes of the spirit. I think that when the members do their best to show and give love, the investigators really want to be there and feel that they can fit in. I hope that you enjoyed your birthday and that you had fun in Sacramento. Karly told me that her family just went to the Oakland temple. I love you mom tell the family and the ward that I think that they're the best and I send them my love. Tú hijo mado Elder Moroni Beal

Happy, Happy, Happy!

 Sis Beal,
My husband and I are traveling through Spain, and attended church in Gijon this morning, where we met and were greeted by your wonderful and handsome son....and thought you would like a picture of him with his current companion, Elder Walker.

Your son looks happy and loving the work he is doing.  We so admire the missionaries!

Elder Beal,
This week I am especially grateful for faith in Christ.  I know it seems simple enough but only through Him can we accomplish anything.  Activating our faith by works and sincere prayer can bring about miracles. Faith also can grant peace greater than earthly description that outshines the darkest storms. Peace that will safely guard and guide us home. Life is precious and fleeting.  I am sad that I am only beginning to understand this concept now.  It is so important to love and serve those whom we encounter and especially those who we are linked for eternity to. I often have taken for granted and assumed that all my children know that I love them more than anything. That I am very proud of them.  That I think they are amazing. Yet, I neglect to often to remind them of these truths. This is my new goal, to love deeper by expressing my love more frequently in the lives of my family.

Bishop would like to get your plaque ordered and up on the wall in the next couple of weeks.  What scripture did you want displayed on it? What would you like for your birthday?

I will send a couple of pictures from my phone in a separate email.  I love you.

Forever in my thoughts and prayers.
Love,
Mom

Hey muchacha,
This week has been pretty crazy but it's been pretty awesome at the same time. First of all, HAPPY CUMPLEAÑOS!!!!!!!!!! Turing thirty is definitely a good age for yah. I'm so proud to be your son, I show everybody pictures of you and they all say, "Que Hermosa," "Que joven." Or how beautiful, how young. We have spent almost 20 years together, that's awesome. I hope that y'all go and do something amazing. I love you mom and I have been thinking a lot about how much you guys show me that you love me. Over the years I can think back to all the times you have told me that you've loved me. A lot of children have not had that opportunity. I think that you guys have been so strong in raising us kids in the gospel. I've thought about being a dad and it scares me, to have young guy following my every move is going to be crazy. I hope that you that you enjoyed being a mom to me even though it was a long and windy road to get me on this straight and narrow path. Because I definitely did. Thank you Mom. By the way Enrique's wife Orfelina is getting baptized this week, on Friday. I'll send you some pictures, they're so cute. Te quiero madre, espero que disfrutes tu día de nacimiento.

Gift of Tongues

Elder Beal,
So much has happened this week! Let's start with today and work our way backwards. Bishop Hill was released today and was called to be the Seminary teacher.  Nauvoo broke down in tears, she was so pleased.  Bishop Hill is our new Bishop (Spencer). Camilla flew to Utah this morning and will be back in a week.  Bethany and Elijah were baptized yesterday morning, it was lovely.  School starts on Tuesday, yet Nauvoo has already had three volleyball games.  She is the setter on the JV team.  Dad is back from his big motorcycle ride.  I should have taken a photo of his beard.  I sent a few pictures of his ride in Southern Utah.  He had a really great time riding in the desert and riding jet skis on a lake. Of all the pictures I've seen, I love the hieroglyphs and the St. George temple the most, besides pictures of your dad ;). Malachi and I picked a bucket full of tomatoes from the garden.  Our green grapes are gang-busters this year.
The Jarvie's had a gathering to welcome home and say farewell to Donavaghn as he is headed off to BYU-I.  Rick has also been accepted there and will start this winter term after he returns with honor. In Gavin's last email that I read, he was going to apply there too.  It would be super cool if ya'll went there!  It was neat to visit with him about his mission.  His grandpa, Brother Walker, has some really cool stories about his first mission in Taiwan. There were no members when they arrived in Taiwan and 500 members when their mission was complete. He served there prior to any branches being established or any church publications in Mandarin.  In fact one of his companions, Elder Cutler, was bummed that he only baptized one during his three year ministry there.  However that one, was instrumental in the translation of the Book of Mormon into Mandarin.  The power of one teamed up with the Lord is mighty.
Your friend Luis has posted a few things of you on FB this week and that has been fun to see.  I appreciate his thoughtfulness. Please give him my love.  Howard Woods called tonight because he saw you on FB and left a lovely message about you and asked me to say hello to you in my next email.
I have been studying about the Holy Ghost the past couple of weeks and I really like learning about the sanctifying power to help us in the process of becoming more like our Father in Heaven. The other thing I was glad to be reminded of was that all gifts of the spirit come through the Holy Ghost and when our desires are righteous to obtain one for the benefit of His work and Glory than through our effort and faith, it can be obtained.

I love you and am so proud of you.  Keep working hard and keep smiling!

Love,
Mom

Hey Momma,
I hope that you enjoyed your week this week and I hope that the family is doing good. This week is a little crazy we had exchanges with the Zone Leaders, after that we had District meeting which was actually very good. My district is the best two natives, 3 Americans and a French kid that grew up in Texas. I be been thinking a lot about what home life will be like and I almost Flipar. I have less than a year left because of transfers, so I should be walking out of the terminal the first week of September. Which is funny because I haven't hit a year yet. I've started to talk with Luis every day for a half hour to better my Spanish. I have most of the words down but sometimes it's hard for me to put them in a good sentence. Most of the time I can understand what someone's saying to me. I'm also working on my accent. I really want to sound like a Spaniard so that when I get back I can really talk to someone with the best Spanish in the world. No offense Donavaghn and Jared. I love you mom and I'm so glad for all the old photos that you send me. You guys are the best. Tell everyone that I say hi.
Love,
Elder Beal
